In order to maximise the experience of all junior players, we have a documented process for Junior Team Allocations that clearly communicates how junior teams are put together by the club. Read the policy here

Under 8 'Junior Blasters Cricket' programs (5 to 8 years)

These programs are for boys and girls aged between about 5 and 8 years old. They are heaps of fun and get kids involved in running, catching, throwing, batting and bowling. The focus is on enjoyment, and introducing kids to the fundamental skills of cricket.

These programs are run on Saturday mornings from October until March 9am - 10am with a sausage sizzle for hungry participants and their siblings!

Participants receive structured sessions in small age-based groups conducted by trained volunteer coordinators. Each child participant receives a Starter Pack comprising a multi-purpose backpack, lightweight cricket bat, soft rubber cricket ball, T-Shirt and sunsmart hat.

Further information about the program, including lesson plans, policies, safety and FAQs can be found on the Cricket Australia website

Under 10, 12, 14 and 16 Competition Cricket

Our Under 10, 12, 14 and 16 teams play competition cricket in the North West Metropolitan Cricket Association. Our teams are open to both boys and girls.

Under 10s play a modified game on Friday evenings that encourages the participation of all players. All other junior teams play on Saturday mornings or Friday evenings using the normal rules of cricket.

Under 12, 14 and 16 Girls Competition Cricket

Following the success of the Under 13 girls' competition teams in the last three seasons, playing on Monday nights, and Under 15 girls last season playing on Wednesday nights, we are hoping to have enough players for an U12, U14 and an U16 team this season (with the under 12 and 16 teams playing on Wednesday nights and the under 14 team playing on Monday nights)

Volunteers

The Junior club relies on volunteers to keep fees down, encourage family participation and create the welcoming sense of community that we pride ourselves on at YPCC.

You don't have to be a cricket expert to volunteer. Here are some example roles:

- umpire/square leg umpire

- equipment/field set up/pack down

- game day coach

- team manager (including logistics and communication)

- BBQ helpers

- scorers
